| Strait Peace Orchestra

The graceful classic music is well received on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, and has served as a bridge of peace. Owing to such a unique role transcending the political, economic and cultural differences, the classic music has become an indispensible part of cultural life for people in Taiwan and in the mainland of China. Inspired by such a common ideal and concept, China Symphony Development Foundation and the New Aspects Foundation from Taiwan initiated the establishment of Strait Peace Orchestra.
In early 2009, this initiation was approved and supported by people concerned from both sides of the Straits as soon as it was proposed. The Orchestra was composed of excellent musicians from renowned symphony orchestras on both sides of the Straits, including China National Symphony Orchestra, China Opera and Dance Drama Theatre Symphony Orchestra, China Film Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Symphony Orchestra, Shanxi Song & Dance Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Guangxi Song & Dance Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Hebei Symphony Orchestra, Harbin Opera House Symphony Orchestra, Qianghai National Song & Dance Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Anhui Song & Dance Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Xinjiang Philharmonic Orchestra, Tibet Philharmonic Orchestra, Wuhan Orchestra, Hubei Provincial Opera and Dance Drama Theatre Symphony Orchestra and Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, etc.
The Orchestra has specially invited outstanding Chinese musicians to be the concertmaster and the section principal, the music director is world-renowned conductors Lu Jia, and the violin soloist is the Paganini Competition winner, Ning Feng. The orchestra’s inaugural tour was kicked off on July 27 in Beijing, and then move on to Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei and Kaohsiung.
